Space Oddity is an LP by David Bowie from 1973 released on the RCA, RCA Victor label.
About this album
Space Oddity marked David Bowie’s first major breakthrough, turning a promising singer-songwriter into a distinct pop visionary. Issued in 1969 and later retitled after its hit single, the album blends folk rock, psychedelic colour and space-age imagery with more intimate songs such as Letter to Hermione and An Occasional Dream. The title track became Bowie’s first major chart success and one of his signature songs, opening the door to the adventurous career that followed. Even where the record sounds tentative, its range and ambition already point beyond conventional British pop.
