    About this album

Last Train To Hicksville...The Home Of Happy Feet finds Dan Hicks And His Hot Licks refining their wry blend of swing, bluegrass, folk and blues rock into some of their most tuneful work. Issued in 1973, the album reflects Hicks’ gift for mixing acoustic roots styles with dry humour, easygoing harmonies and a deceptively nimble band sound. The record sits comfortably within the early 1970s West Coast roots revival, where old-time forms were being reimagined for a contemporary audience. Its charm lies in the contrast between playful presentation and disciplined musicianship, making it one of the group’s most distinctive releases.
