Count Basie Orchestra – Basie (E/VG+) – LP, AU 1974

Basie is an LP by Count Basie Orchestra from 1974 released on the World Record Club label.

About this album

Basie distils the Count Basie Orchestra’s late-period big band style into a sharp, swinging 1969 compilation. By this stage Basie had already defined the sound of modern big band jazz, and these selections underline the orchestra’s balance of precision, propulsion and easy blues feeling. The set moves comfortably between polished standards and brassy originals, showing why the Basie band remained a benchmark for tight ensemble writing and effortless drive in the post-swing era. It is a compact portrait of an orchestra that kept classic swing vital well into the 1960s.
