    Legend is Clannad’s breakthrough soundtrack album and one of the clearest statements of their mid-1980s sound. Issued in 1984, it draws on the music written for the BBC television series Robin of Sherwood, including the familiar instrumental theme Robin (The Hooded Man). The album blends Irish folk melodies, rock dynamics and ambient colouring into a form that made the group far more widely known beyond their earlier folk roots. Its mood of myth, landscape and medieval drama helped define Clannad’s international profile and made Legend a key entry in both Celtic-influenced rock and television soundtrack history.
