About this album

Fuaim is a pivotal early Clannad album, marking the group’s move beyond straightforward folk towards the atmospheric Celtic sound that would define their career. Released in 1982, it draws on Irish-language tradition while introducing more measured rock textures and a broader sonic palette. The album helped establish Clannad as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Irish music, balancing ancestral material with a modern sense of arrangement and mood. Its blend of traditional songs and contemporary framing makes it an important bridge between the band’s early folk roots and their later international profile.
