About this album

Clannad 2 is a landmark early statement from the Irish group, refining their blend of Gaelic song, folk tradition and spare acoustic arrangement. Issued in 1974, the album helped establish Clannad’s reputation for turning rooted Irish material into something immediate and contemporary, with sibling harmonies and instrumental subtlety at the centre. Its mix of traditional songs and airs shows the band drawing deeply from regional heritage while shaping a distinctive sound that would later feed into their wider international success. For listeners exploring Irish folk beyond the obvious canon, it remains an essential release from the group’s formative years.
