    Chicago VIII finds the band balancing polished soft rock with the intricate brass-rock arrangements that defined their early run. Issued in 1975, the album follows the group’s hugely successful early-’70s breakthrough and shows them leaning further into melodic, radio-ready songwriting while still keeping their distinctive horn-driven identity. The nostalgic single Old Days became one of its best-known songs, and Harry Truman added a sharper, more political edge. By this stage Chicago were established as one of the era’s major album acts, and Chicago VIII helped confirm their move from experimental jazz-rock roots towards accessible classic rock.
