    About this album

Love Devotion Surrender is a bold jazz-rock fusion collaboration between Carlos Santana and John McLaughlin, bringing together Latin fire, electric improvisation and spiritual intensity. Recorded in 1973 and produced by Santana, the album centres on extended, searching performances that pay homage to John Coltrane while pushing both guitarists into new territory. Its versions of A Love Supreme and Naima signal the record’s jazz roots, but the real achievement is how Santana’s melodic Latin sensibility and McLaughlin’s sharply articulated fusion style lock into a dramatic, high-wire exchange. Widely regarded as a key document of 1970s fusion, it remains one of the pair’s most adventurous statements.
