Saint-Saëns’ Symphony No. 3, the famous ‘Organ Symphony’, is one of the great Romantic orchestral showpieces, balancing noble lyricism with dazzling orchestral power. Zubin Mehta leads the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra in a 1971 recording that brings clarity, drama and strong architectural sweep to the score’s broad contrasts.
