About this album
Buffalo Springfield is a landmark debut that helped define West Coast folk rock at the moment it was turning towards psychedelia. Released in 1966, the album introduced a remarkably strong songwriting collective built around Stephen Stills, Neil Young and Richie Furay, with songs such as Nowadays Clancy Can’t Even Sing and Flying on the Ground Is Wrong showing both melodic finesse and restless edge. Its mix of acoustic clarity, electric bite and socially aware West Coast perspective made the group one of the most influential American rock acts of the era, and a crucial early chapter in both Young’s and Stills’ careers.
