About this album
Bruce Rowland’s soundtrack for The Man From Snowy River is a quintessential Australian film score, blending lyrical themes with bold orchestral writing to match the film’s rugged mountain setting. Issued in 1982 for George T. Miller’s celebrated adaptation of Banjo Paterson’s story, the music gave the horse-chase adventure emotional weight as well as sweep and momentum. Pieces such as Main Title, Clancy’s Theme and The Chase helped define the film’s identity, while the score’s mix of folk colour and cinematic grandeur made it one of the most recognisable Australian soundtracks of its era.
