    About this album

Discreet Music is a pioneering ambient album and one of Brian Eno’s most influential statements. Issued in 1975, it marked a decisive turn away from rock into long-form electronic and process-based composition, using patient repetition and subtle tonal change to create music intended to shape atmosphere as much as demand attention. The title piece became especially important in Eno’s developing idea of ambient music, while the record as a whole helped establish a new vocabulary for minimal, contemplative listening. Its quiet radicalism has made it a landmark in electronic music and a touchstone for generations of ambient artists.
