New Jersey is Bon Jovi’s most fully realised hard rock statement, sharpening the band’s melodic stadium sound into a heavier, hook-packed showcase. Released in 1988, it followed the breakthrough of Slippery When Wet and confirmed the group could turn arena rock into mainstream pop power without losing bite. Led by Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora, the album pairs swagger with singalong choruses on standouts such as Bad Medicine, Born to Be My Baby and I’ll Be There for You. Its commercial success helped define the late-1980s glam-metal boom and kept Bon Jovi at the centre of rock radio.
