Before the Flood is a ferocious live document of Bob Dylan and The Band at full intensity. Released in 1974, it captured their much-hyped reunion tour and turned a huge setlist of Dylan classics and Band staples into a hard-driving, boots-on-the-ground statement. The performances of songs such as “Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I’ll Go Mine)”, “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” and “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down” show how powerfully these artists could reshape familiar material on stage. Drawn from concerts recorded across the tour, the album became one of the defining live releases of Dylan’s career and a key document of mid-70s rock spectacle.
