Another Side Of Bob Dylan marked a decisive turn in Bob Dylan’s writing, moving away from overt protest songs towards more intimate, elusive and conversational material. Issued in 1964, the album broadened his folk approach with sharper wordplay, surreal humour and a looser, more personal voice, heard in songs such as My Back Pages, Chimes Of Freedom and It Ain’t Me Babe. Recorded during a period of rapid creative change, it helped redefine what a folk album could be and signalled the expanding scope of Dylan’s songwriting ahead of his most transformative mid-60s work.
