About this album
Parallel Lines is Blondie’s breakthrough album, the record that pushed the band from downtown New York cult favourites to international pop innovators. Released in 1978, it fused punk energy, new wave sharpness and disco polish into a compact, radio-ready sound that defined the late-1970s crossover between underground attitude and mainstream appeal. Produced by Mike Chapman, the album pairs Debbie Harry’s cool, unmistakable vocal style with songs that became enduring staples, including One Way or Another, Hanging On the Telephone, Sunday Girl and Heart of Glass. Its success made Blondie one of the era’s most visible and influential bands, helping to shape pop, rock and dance music in the years that followed.
