About this album
Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head shows B.J. Thomas at his most commercially assured, balancing country-rock ease with polished pop appeal. Released in 1969, the album builds around the title song that became a defining hit for Thomas and a signature tune of the era after its use in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Its blend of soft rock, country touches and soulful balladry reflects the crossover sound that carried him from chart favourite to mainstream star. The record captures the late-1960s move towards gentler, radio-friendly pop without losing the warmth and emotional directness that made Thomas distinctive.
