Don't Say No is Billy Squier’s breakthrough album, the hard-edged pop rock record that turned him into a major early-’80s arena act. Released in 1981, it sharpened his earlier solo sound with taut riffs, driving rhythms and hooks built for rock radio, led by signature songs such as The Stroke and Lonely Is The Night. The album was produced by Mack, whose polished but forceful approach helped give the record its commercial lift without dulling its bite. Its blend of muscle, melody and swagger made it one of Squier’s defining statements and a staple of classic rock programming.
