Conor Oberst and Phoebe Bridgers' surprise debut
Surprise: after months of not revealing anything about their collaboration, Conor Oberst and Phoebe Bridgers are reporting back from the studio together in 2019.
"Better Oblivion Community Center" is the name of the collaborative band project and debut album from the singer-songwriter and Bright Eyes mastermind and his colleague, who most recently shined in 2018 with her supergroup Boygenius.
Over the summer and fall, Oberst and Bridgers wrote and recorded the ten songs on their debut album in Los Angeles. They were supported by a few colleagues, including Nick Zinner (Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Wylie Gelber and Griffin Goldsmith (Dawes), Carla Azar (Autolux, Jack White), Christian Lee Hutson and Anna Butterss.
Better Oblivion Community Center produced the album themselves, with the help of Andy LeMaster (Bright Eyes).
How the record sounds, the band already revealed in advance with the first single "Dylan Thomas", a small tribute to the Welsh writer.
The song shows where the musical journey is going: Between pop, indie rock and emotional folk, Conor Oberst and Phoebe Bridgers have both brought their personal signature, creativity and talent to this project. If you want to see for yourself, you can easily order "Better Oblivion Community Center" online now.
