Ben Howard's eagerly awaited new album "I Forget Where We Were" will be released in October. It was produced by Ben and his drummer Chris Bond at Start Point Farm Studios in Devon. The first single of the same name, "I Forget Where We Were", is already available digitally.
The single follows the epic eight-minute pre-release track "End Of The Affair", which will also be part of the album.
"I Forget Where We Were" is the second album following Ben's highly successful debut "Every Kingdom", which was released in October 2011 and has sold over 1 million copies worldwide. It was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize and won Ben two BRIT Awards in 2012 in the categories "British Breakthrough" and "British Solo Male Artist".
"IForget Where We Were" is the highly acclaimed second album from singer-songwriter Ben Howard. Originally released in 2014, it includes fan favorites such as the title track "IForget Where We Were", "In Dreams", "She Treats Me Well" and "Conrad".
The album reached #1 in the UK and was certified gold in several countries.
I Forget Where We Were finds Ben Howard moving into darker, more expansive territory, trading the warmth of his earlier folk sound for something brooding, textured, and cinematic. The songs unfold slowly, carried by layered guitars, echoing ambience, and Howard’s hushed delivery. Each track feels immersive, building tension through space and subtle shifts rather than hooks, creating a reflective mood that’s both intimate and grand in scale.
The album’s strength lies in its cohesion and emotional depth. It captures the restlessness of change and the weight of introspection, with production that feels raw yet carefully constructed. Tracks like “End of the Affair” and “In Dreams” highlight Howard’s ability to fuse atmosphere with feeling, making this one of his most fully realized and affecting works.
Reviews
“The build up to the release of I Forget Where We Were … has been fittingly calm and hushed … this album is more complex, more imaginative and technically worlds away from Every Kingdom.” – DIY Magazine
“Howard never loses his sense of melody, and this album thrives in his sheer musicality … it’s hardly an easy ride, but it’s eventually a satisfying one.” – Consequence
"I Forget Where We Were is an album to grow into rather than one of instant satisfaction, one that blossoms upon every subsequent listen, one to clutch close to your heart and cherish forever." – musicOMH
"Musically adventurous, sonically daring and really rather stunning." – Q Magazine
"A challenging move from such a young artist who deserves to have his fans take a leap of faith." – Mojo
