Bee Gees gathers the group’s early pop-rock sides and shows the harmonic polish that would later make them worldwide stars. Issued in 1972, this compilation draws on the brothers’ pre-superstardom recordings, including songs such as Spicks and Specks, I Was a Lover, a Leader of Men and How Many Birds, where Barry, Robin and Maurice sharpened the close vocal blend and melodramatic songwriting that became their signature. Heard together, these tracks trace the band’s move from British-influenced beat pop towards the more assured melodic style that made the Bee Gees one of the most durable acts of the era.
