    About this album

Arthur Verocai is a landmark of Brazilian jazz-funk and MPB, renowned for its ambitious arrangements and imaginative blend of soul, samba and orchestral colour. Released in 1972, the album showcased composer, arranger and guitarist Arthur Verocai’s richly detailed writing, moving between propulsive grooves and more reflective passages with striking confidence. Its intricate production and expressive use of strings, horns and rhythm section helped it become a touchstone for listeners beyond Brazil, later gaining cult status among crate-diggers, collectors and hip-hop artists. Widely regarded as one of the great Brazilian records of its era, it remains a vivid statement of studio-era sophistication and musical ambition.
