About this album

Once In A Lifetime is a graceful early compilation that highlights Aretha Franklin’s extraordinary versatility before her Atlantic breakthrough reshaped modern soul. Drawn from her late-1960s work, it sets her alongside standards and familiar material such as Moon River, My Guy and Unforgettable, revealing how naturally she could move between pop, jazz-leaning balladry and gospel-rooted soul. Rather than a simple hit package, it captures a singer refining the emotional force and technical control that soon made her the Queen of Soul. As a snapshot of Franklin’s range in 1969, it offers a revealing view of an artist on the verge of her most celebrated era.
