About this album
Knew You Were Waiting: The Best Of Aretha Franklin 1980-1998 is a strong overview of Aretha Franklin’s late-era commercial resurgence. Drawing on key singles from the 1980s and 1990s, it captures her move through polished contemporary soul, pop and duet material without losing the force and authority that made her the Queen of Soul. With landmark moments such as Freeway of Love, Who’s Zoomin’ Who? and I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me), the compilation shows how Franklin remained a vital chart presence while adapting to changing sounds. It is a concise portrait of endurance, versatility and star power.
