    About this album

Anthrax’s Spreading the Disease is a landmark in mid-’80s thrash, sharpening the New York band’s speed, bite and sense of melody. Released in 1985, it followed Fistful of Metal and marked the arrival of vocalist Joey Belladonna and bassist Frank Bello, helping define the group’s classic line-up. Produced by Carl Canedy and Anthrax, the album balances rapid-fire riffs with tightly written songs such as Madhouse, Caught in a Mosh and Armed and Dangerous, giving the music real crossover punch without losing its aggression. It is widely regarded as one of the key albums that helped bring thrash metal to a wider audience.
