Pinky Blue sharpened Altered Images’ bubblegum edge into a brighter, more synthesised new-wave statement. Issued in 1982, the band’s second album followed the success of Happy Birthday and leaned further into sleek pop hooks, crisp rhythms and frontwoman Clare Grogan’s instantly recognisable vocals. Led by singles such as See Those Eyes and I Could Be Happy, it showed the group balancing post-punk energy with glossy, chart-ready songwriting.
