About this album

Pipedream is Alan Hull’s acclaimed solo debut, and a strong showcase for the Lindisfarne songwriter’s gift for plain-speaking, melodic folk rock. Released in 1973, the album expands beyond his band work into personal, sometimes political writing, balancing intimate reflection with sharper social commentary. Songs such as Drug Song and Money Game highlight Hull’s eye for detail and knack for memorable hooks, while the record’s mix of acoustic warmth and rock momentum gives it lasting appeal. It stands as one of the more distinctive British singer-songwriter albums of the early 1970s, confirming Hull as a major voice beyond Lindisfarne.
