    Explores Your Mind finds Al Green deepening the elegant Southern soul sound that made him one of the era’s great vocalists. Released in 1974, the album arrived during his celebrated run with producer Willie Mitchell at Hi Records, where understated grooves, crisp horns and gospel-inflected phrasing gave his music its emotional pull. It also includes one of Green’s signature late-period songs, ‘Take Me to the River’, later widely covered and endlessly influential. Across the album, Green balances romance, restraint and spiritual undertow, making this a key statement in his catalogue and a strong example of Memphis soul at its most refined.
