Back In Black is AC/DC’s hard rock landmark, turning tragedy into a fierce comeback. Released in 1980, the album was the band’s first with Brian Johnson after the death of Bon Scott, and its stark black sleeve became an instant statement of intent. Produced by Robert John “Mutt” Lange, it sharpened the group’s blues-rooted riffing into a tight, hook-heavy assault driven by thunderous drums, call-and-response vocals and massive choruses. Songs such as Hell’s Bells, Back In Black and You Shook Me All Night Long helped make it one of rock’s biggest albums and a lasting template for arena-ready hard rock.
