Yvonne Minton is an Australian operatic mezzo-soprano who has performed on the world's greatest stages. She began her career in Australia, performing in the mid-1960s at the Victoria State Opera. She then moved to London and quickly became one of the leading singers of her generation, appearing at the Royal Opera House, La Scala, and other major opera houses. She is known for her beautiful voice and interpretations of roles from the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic repertoires.

Minton's most acclaimed recordings include Handel's Rodelinda (1978), Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro (1981), and Britten's War Requiem (1989). She has also recorded several recital albums, including Bach and Schubert Lieder and Beethoven and Schumann songs. Her album of the music of Richard Strauss (1977) won a Grammy Award for Best Classical Performance, Female Vocal Solo.

An interesting fact about Minton is that she appeared in the 1983 film Amadeus as the soprano who sings the role of the Queen of the Night in the famous opera scene. She also sang the part of Maddalena in Verdi's Rigoletto, which was featured in the film.
