Willie Colón Vinyl Records

Willie Colón is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and producer from New York City. He is best known for his salsa music, combining elements of salsa and Latin jazz with a variety of other genres. He is also credited with popularizing the use of the trombone in salsa music.

Colón began his career as a trombonist and composer in the early 1970s, working with salsa giants like Hector Lavoe, Ismael Miranda, and Rubén Blades. His first solo album, El Malo (1972), established him as a salsa star. His subsequent albums, such as Asalto Navideño (1974), La Gran Fuga (1975), and Lo Mato (1976), are regarded as classic salsa recordings. His 1980 collaboration with Blades, Siembra, is often cited as one of the most influential salsa albums of all time.

Some of Colón's most popular songs include "El Malo," "El Dia De Suerte," "Canto A Borinquen," "La Murga," and "Che Che Cole."

An interesting fact about Willie Colón is that he was the first Latin musician to be nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Latin Album, for his 1978 release Canciones De Mi Padre.
