Tom Tom Club Vinyl Records

Tom Tom Club is an American new wave band formed in 1981 by husband-and-wife team Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz, both formerly of Talking Heads. They are best known for their 1981 single "Genius of Love" and their 1983 album Close to the Bone.

Their debut album, Tom Tom Club, was released in 1981 and featured the hit singles "Wordy Rappinghood" and "Genius of Love", the latter of which reached the Top 5 of the U.S. charts and was a hit in dance clubs around the world. The album also featured the song "Pleasure of Love", which was later sampled by the Beastie Boys for their song "Shake Your Rump".

Their follow-up album, Close to the Bone, was released in 1983 and featured the hit single "Under the Boardwalk". The album also featured the songs "The Man with the 4-Way Hips" and "The Man with the 4-Way Voice", which were both sampled by R.E.M. for their song "Driver 8".

In 1985, Tom Tom Club released their third album, Boom Boom Chi Boom Boom, which featured the singles "Suboceana" and "Don't Say No". The album also featured the songs "As Above, So Below" and "Romance in Rio", both of which were sampled by the Beastie Boys for their song "Hey Ladies".

An interesting fact about Tom Tom Club is that they often perform in their original Talking Heads line-up, with the addition of Weymouth and Frantz' daughter, Mimi Goese, on vocals.
