Tom Rapp Vinyl Records

Tom Rapp was an American singer-songwriter and musician best known for being the frontman of the psychedelic folk band Pearls Before Swine. He was born in 1947 in Durham, North Carolina, and grew up in Baltimore, Maryland. He formed Pearls Before Swine in 1965, and the group recorded five albums over the next five years. Their albums are often cited as being influential in the development of psychedelic folk.

Their standout albums include their debut album, One Nation Underground (1967), which featured their most successful single "Playmate," as well as the albums Balaklava (1968), These Things Too (1969), and the posthumously released City of Gold (1972).

Notable songs by Pearls Before Swine include "Another Time," "The Jeweller," "Images of April," and "Translucent Carriages."

An interesting fact about Tom Rapp is that, after leaving Pearls Before Swine in 1970, he pursued a career in law and eventually became a judge in Florida. He continued to write and record music in his spare time, and released several solo albums over the course of his career. He passed away in 2018 at the age of 70.
