The Weavers Vinyl Records

The Weavers were a folk group formed in 1948 by Pete Seeger, Lee Hays, Ronnie Gilbert, and Fred Hellerman. They quickly gained fame by performing folk songs and labor songs, as well as original material. They released their first album, The Weavers at Carnegie Hall, in 1955. The album was a huge success and the group soon became a household name.

Some of the Weavers' most famous songs include "Goodnight Irene," "On Top of Old Smoky," "Kisses Sweeter Than Wine," and "If I Had a Hammer." They also released a number of successful albums, including Travelling on with the Weavers (1953), Reunion at Carnegie Hall (1963), and Wasn't That a Time (1975).

An interesting fact about the Weavers is that they were the first folk group to have a number one single on the Billboard charts. Their version of Lead Belly's "Goodnight Irene" was released in 1950 and quickly rose to the top of the charts. The song remained at the number one spot for 13 weeks, setting a new record for folk music.
