The Vanguard Vinyl Records

The Vanguard is an American folk rock band formed in 1965 in New York City. The band is best known for its classic rock sound, combining elements of folk, blues, and country, and their fusion of electric and acoustic instruments. The original lineup of the band included John Sebastian (guitar and vocals), Zal Yanovsky (guitar and vocals), Steve Boone (bass), and Joe Butler (drums).

The Vanguard's first album, "The Vanguard", was released in 1965 and featured the hit single "Do You Believe in Magic". The band's second album, "What's Shakin'", was released in 1966 and featured the hit single "You Didn't Have to Be So Nice". The band's third album, "The Best of The Lovin' Spoonful", was released in 1967 and featured the hit single "Summer in the City".

The band's most acclaimed albums include "Hums of The Lovin' Spoonful" (1966), "Daydream" (1966), and "Revelation: Revolution '69" (1969). Standout songs from these albums include "Did You Ever Have to Make Up Your Mind?", "Daydream", "Six O'Clock", "Rain on the Roof", "Nashville Cats", and "You Didn't Have to Be So Nice".

An interesting fact about The Vanguard is that John Sebastian, the band's frontman, was the son of harmonica player and bandleader John Sebastian Sr., who was a prominent figure in the New York folk music scene in the 1950s and 1960s.
