The Stooges are an American rock band formed in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1967. The original lineup consisted of vocalist Iggy Pop, guitarist Ron Asheton, bassist Dave Alexander, and drummer Scott Asheton. The Stooges are considered a pioneering proto-punk band and one of the most important groups of the late 1960s and early 1970s.

The Stooges released their self-titled debut album in 1969. This album, along with its 1970 follow-up Fun House, is regarded as one of the cornerstones of punk rock and is known for its raw and visceral sound. The Stooges' third album, Raw Power, was released in 1973 and is considered to be a major influence on the development of punk and heavy metal.

The Stooges' most famous songs include "I Wanna Be Your Dog," "No Fun," "Search and Destroy," and "Lust for Life."

An interesting fact about The Stooges is that they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.
