The Knack Vinyl Records

The Knack was a rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1978. The band was led by vocalist/guitarist Doug Fieger, and also featured guitarist Berton Averre, drummer Bruce Gary and bassist Prescott Niles. The Knack's most popular and successful album was their 1979 debut Get the Knack, which included the hit singles "My Sharona" and "Good Girls Don't". The album reached number one on the Billboard 200 and was certified 5x Platinum.

Their 1981 follow-up album Round Trip featured the singles "Baby Talks Dirty" and "Pay The Devil". The band's third and final studio album Serious Fun was released in 1988 and featured the single "Rocket O' Love".

The Knack was notable for its use of 1960s pop melodies and power-pop style, often being compared to the Beatles and the Who. An interesting fact about The Knack is that the band was at the center of a major lawsuit from their label Capitol Records, which accused them of deliberately sabotaging their own success by refusing to promote or tour for their second and third albums. The band eventually settled the lawsuit out of court.
