The Icicle Works

The Icicle Works is an English rock band formed in 1980 in Liverpool. The band consists of Ian McNabb (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Chris Layhe (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Chris Sharrock (drums, percussion, backing vocals). The band released their first single "Nirvana" in 1983, and their debut album The Icicle Works followed in 1984.

The band released five albums during their active years, and their most acclaimed album was their second release The Small Price of a Bicycle (1985). This album included some of their most popular songs such as "Birds Fly (Whisper to a Scream)", "Love Is a Wonderful Colour", and "Hollow Horse".

The Icicle Works' last album was the self-titled The Icicle Works (1988), which included the single "Understanding Jane". The band disbanded in 1989, but has since reunited for several one-off performances.

An interesting fact about The Icicle Works is that the band's original name was The Ice Cycle Works, but was changed to avoid confusion with the American band The Cycle Sluts from Hell.
