The Communards Vinyl Records

The Communards were a British synth-pop duo formed in 1985 by vocalist Jimmy Somerville and keyboardist Richard Coles. They achieved their greatest success in the mid-1980s, releasing four singles that reached the Top 20 in the UK. The group's biggest hit was their 1986 cover of the Gloria Gaynor classic "Don't Leave Me This Way", which topped the UK Singles Chart.

The Communards' debut album, "Communion", was released in 1986 and featured a mixture of dance-pop and soul music. The album included their hit singles "Don't Leave Me This Way", "Never Can Say Goodbye" and "You Are My World". Their follow-up album, "Red", was released in 1987 and featured a more mature, soulful sound. Standout tracks from the album included "For a Friend", "Tomorrow" and "There's More to Love".

The group split in 1988, but reunited briefly in 2005 to perform a series of concerts. An interesting fact about The Communards is that they were the first openly gay band to achieve mainstream success in the UK.
