The Clean

The Clean is an influential New Zealand indie rock band formed in 1978 in Dunedin. Their original lineup included David Kilgour, Hamish Kilgour and Robert Scott. They were part of the Dunedin sound movement, a musical genre that was heavily influenced by punk and post-punk.

The Clean's most notable albums are Anthology (2002) and Getaway (2009). Anthology is a compilation of the band's singles and EPs from 1979 to 1982 and Getaway is their first album in 17 years. Standout songs from Anthology include "Tally Ho!", "Beatnik" and "Point That Thing Somewhere Else" while Getaway features "Loog", "In the Dreamlife U Need a Rubber Soul" and "Are You Really on Drugs?".

An interesting fact about The Clean is that they have a very distinctive sound. While they are often compared to other indie rock bands, they have a unique mix of jangly guitar riffs, minimalistic percussion and vocal harmonies.
