The Chameleons Vinyl Records

The Chameleons were an English post-punk band that formed in 1981 in Middleton, Greater Manchester, England. The band's lineup consisted of lead vocalist and bassist Mark Burgess, guitarist Dave Fielding, guitarist Reg Smithies, and drummer John Lever. The band was part of the influential "Manchester scene" that included Joy Division, New Order, and The Smiths.

The Chameleons' debut album, Script of the Bridge, was released in 1983 and featured the single "Second Skin," which made it to number 66 on the UK Singles Chart. The album was critically acclaimed and is considered a classic of the post-punk era. The follow-up album, What Does Anything Mean? Basically, was released in 1985 and was even more successful than the debut, reaching number 24 on the UK Albums Chart. The band's final album, Strange Times, was released in 1986 and featured the single "Soul in Isolation," which reached number 45 on the UK Singles Chart.

The Chameleons are considered one of the most influential post-punk bands of their era, and their standout albums and songs include "Second Skin," "Tears," "Swamp Thing," "Up the Down Escalator," and "Monkeyland."

An interesting fact about The Chameleons is that they were the first band to be signed to the influential Manchester-based record label, Factory Records.
