The Associates Vinyl Records

The Associates were a post-punk band from Dundee, Scotland. Founded in 1979, the band was composed of singer Billy Mackenzie and multi-instrumentalist Alan Rankine.

The Associates' debut album The Affectionate Punch was released in 1980 and was followed by a series of critically acclaimed albums and singles throughout the 1980s. Notable albums include Fourth Drawer Down (1981), Sulk (1982), and Wild and Lonely (1982).

The Associates had several hit singles, including "Party Fears Two," "Club Country," and "18 Carat Love Affair." They also had two top 40 hits in the UK, "Q Quarters" (1982) and "Breakfast" (1984).

An interesting fact about the Associates is that they were one of the few British acts to perform on the famous US show Saturday Night Live in 1982.
