Stevie Wright was an Australian rock and roll singer and songwriter who was a founding member of the band The Easybeats. Born Stephen Carlton Wright in Leeds, England, in 1947, he moved to Australia with his family at age nine and later attended the prestigious Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

Wright's first taste of fame came in 1964 when The Easybeats released their debut single, "For My Woman". The song quickly became a hit, reaching number one in Australia and number four in the UK. The Easybeats went on to have more success, including the classic songs "Friday on My Mind" and "Good Times". Wright left the band in 1969 to pursue a solo career.

Wright's solo career was highly successful and included the albums Hard Road (1973) and Black Eyed Bruiser (1976). His most well-known songs include "Evie (Parts 1, 2, and 3)", "The Kid's a Punk" and "Ginger Man". His last major performance was at the 2005 Sydney Big Day Out music festival.

An interesting fact about Stevie Wright is that he was the first Australian artist to have a single reach number one on the UK Singles Chart.
