Spinners Vinyl Records

Spinners is an American rhythm and blues vocal group from Detroit, Michigan, who formed in 1954 and enjoyed a string of hit singles and albums during the 1960s and 1970s. The group was formed in 1954 by Henry Fambrough, Pervis Jackson, Billy Henderson, C.P. Spencer, and Bobby Smith. Their first hit single, "That's What Girls Are Made For," reached number one on the R&B chart in 1961.

The Spinners enjoyed a string of hit singles and albums throughout the 1960s and 70s. Their 1972 album Spinners was the group's most successful, containing the hit singles "I'll Be Around," "Could It Be I'm Falling In Love," and "Ghetto Child." Other standout albums include their 1973 effort New and Improved and their 1975 album Pick of the Litter, which included the hit single "Games People Play."

In 1980, the Spinners were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, becoming the first R&B vocal group to receive the honor. An interesting fact about the Spinners is that they are one of only two R&B vocal groups to have had more than one lead singer. The other group is the Temptations.
