Their first album, Sewn to the Sky, was released in 1990 and featured the band's signature lo-fi sound. This was followed by the critically acclaimed Julius Caesar in 1993. This album featured more experimental production techniques and was a critical success. The band's breakthrough album came in 1999 with Knock Knock. This album saw the band's sound become more polished and focused and featured the single "Cold Blooded Old Times". This song became a signature track of the band and was featured on several film and television soundtracks. In 2000, Smog released the album Dongs of Sevotion. This album featured the single "I Feel Like the Mother of the World" which gained them wider recognition. In 2003, Smog released their most successful album to date, A River Ain't Too Much to Love. This album featured the single "Rock Bottom Riser" which gained them wider commercial success. The band has continued to release music over the years, with their most recent album, Dream River, released in 2013.
