Beecham was known for his adventurous programming, which often featured rarely performed works alongside more established pieces. He was also a passionate advocate for British music, and his work helped bring works by composers such as Elgar, Delius, and Vaughan Williams to a wider audience. His best-known recordings include Beethoven's Ninth Symphony and Mozart's Requiem.

Some of Beecham's standout albums include his 1956 recording of Handel's Messiah with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the 1961 recording of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. His most notable songs include "Greensleeves," "Ode to Joy," and "The Lark Ascending."

An interesting fact about Beecham is that he was knighted in 1916 for his services to music. He was the first British conductor to be knighted.
