Sir John Barbirolli Vinyl Records

Sir John Barbirolli (1899–1970) was an English conductor and cellist. He is best known for his work with the Hallé Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. He was also a prolific recording artist, and some of his best-known recordings include Elgar's Enigma Variations and Vaughan Williams' A London Symphony.

Barbirolli's standout albums include the 1965 release of Elgar's Enigma Variations, which is considered by many to be one of the finest recordings of the work ever made. His 1967 recording of Vaughan Williams' A London Symphony is also highly regarded and has been praised for its "majestic grandeur." Other notable recordings include Handel's Messiah, Bach's Brandenburg Concertos, and Schubert's Great C Major Symphony.

Some of Barbirolli's best-known songs include "Nimrod" from Elgar's Enigma Variations, "Veni Creator Spiritus" from Handel's Messiah, and "La Mer" from Debussy's La Mer.

An interesting fact about Sir John Barbirolli is that he was the first British conductor to make a commercial recording, which he did in 1929 with the New Queen's Hall Orchestra. He also recorded the first complete version of Holst's The Planets, which was released in 1930.
