Sandy Denny was a British folk singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. She is best known for her work with the folk rock group Fairport Convention, and for her solo album The North Star Grassman and the Ravens (1971). She was born Alexandra Elene MacLean Denny in 1947 and began singing in local pubs and clubs at the age of sixteen. Denny's most acclaimed albums are her solo works The North Star Grassman and the Ravens, Sandy (1972), and Rendezvous (1977). Her most popular songs include "Who Knows Where the Time Goes?", "The Lady", "It'll Take a Long Time", and "Listen, Listen". An interesting fact about Sandy Denny is that she was the first woman to receive a writing credit on a Led Zeppelin song. She co-wrote "The Battle of Evermore" with Jimmy Page, which appeared on Led Zeppelin's fourth album (1971).
