Sam Mangwana is a popular Congolese singer and songwriter known for his smooth, soulful style of Afro-Pop and soukous. He was born in 1947 in the Democratic Republic of Congo and is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in Congolese music.

Mangwana first gained notoriety in the 1960s as a member of the legendary Congolese group African Jazz. He left the group in 1972 and released his first solo album, Marie Louise, in 1973. The album was a success and propelled Mangwana to stardom.

Mangwana has since released over 30 albums, including his most famous work, Galo Negro, which was released in 1983. This album, which features Mangwana's signature Afro-Pop and soukous style, is one of the most successful albums of his career. Other standout albums include Makambo ezali Minene (1979), Merengue (1985), and Matata Ya Kinshasa (1987).

Mangwana is also known for his hit singles, including "Nakoma Na Sika," "Marie Louise," "Nalingi Yo," "Tindi Mose," and "Tika Kolela."

An interesting fact about Sam Mangwana is that he was part of the team that created the popular Congolese dance style, the Soukous. This dance style has become popular throughout Africa and has even been featured in Hollywood films.
