Sam & Dave were an American soul and R&B duo active from 1961 to 1981. Comprised of singers Sam Moore and Dave Prater, the duo was one of the most popular and influential vocal groups of the 1960s, and their unique style of music was essential in the development of soul music.

Some of their most notable albums include Soul Men (1968), I Thank You (1969), and Double Dynamite (1971). Some of their most popular songs include "Soul Man," "Hold On, I'm Comin'," "I Thank You," and "Soothe Me."

An interesting fact about Sam & Dave is that they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992, and are the only African American duo to receive the honor.
